Cambodia

Goodle map of Cambodia

Despite a ravaged past the Kingdom of Cambodia remains one of Asia?s most enthralling destinations. A country deeply enriched in its culture and history, it never fails to impress even the most seasoned traveller. Bordered by Vietnam, Thailand and Laos, Cambodia is one of Southeast Asia's best-kept secrets, as yet relatively untouched by rampant commercialism.
To the North you will find Siem Reap and the spectacular Temples of Angkor, by far the biggest tourist attraction of Cambodia. This massive complex of temples and monuments includes Angkor Wat, the biggest religious monument in the world, and the only man-made structure featured on a national flag. The visual impact and archaeological significance of Angkor Wat cannot be overstated, and it is also one of the most unspoiled world-class monuments.
Further south, lining the banks of three rivers - Tonle Sap, the Mekong and the Bassac - is the national capital, Phnom Penh. Once considered the most beautiful city in Indochina, Phnom Penh still retains traces of its former splendour. Visitors have much to see here, with the glittering Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, National Museum and Central Market proving very popular, while Choeung Ek and the Tuol Sleng Museum provide a sobering reminder of the Khmer Rouge's reign.
Now featuring a variety of top class hotels and resorts, it is possible to see the great sights of Cambodia in unabated luxury and in the style and elegance of an era long past.

The seasonality in Cambodia mirrors that of South Vietnam, although the wet season in Cambodia can be a better time to travel as the moats in Angkor Wat fill with water, and the countryside becomes very lush.
