Vang Vieng is a small town on the Nam Song River, nestled in amongst incredibly scenic limestone karsts, and surrounded by picturesque countryside.
DAY 1
Vientiane ~ Vang Vieng
Depart Vientiane early morning by private vehicle with your local guide for the journey to Vang Vieng, approximately 160 km north of Vientiane along road number 13. The journey time is approximately 3 hours and along the way you will pass many small villages and get a chance to observe typical Laotian rural landscapes and village life styles. We stop to visit the villages of Ban Keun & Ban Pak Khamhung, where local people produce salt, and then continue the journey to Vang Vieng. On arrival in Vang Vieng town late morning your guide will take you to your hotel to check in and freshen up, and then head out for lunch at local restaurant.
Vang Vieng is a small town on the Nam Song River, nestled in amongst incredibly scenic limestone karsts, and surrounded by picturesque countryside. After lunch begin exploring this town and the surrounding countryside with your guide. The limestone karsts contain numerous caves, and its possible to visit many of them. Some caves are more easily accessible, whilst others require some fitness and a more adventurous nature!! Your local guide will discuss options for this afternoon?s activities based on weather conditions, your interests and level of fitness. Return to Vang Vieng town late in the afternoon and the remainder of the afternoon and evening is at leisure.

DAY 2
Vang Vieng ~ Vientiane ~ Depart
This morning is at leisure for you to pursue your interests - there are plenty of options and activities available in Vang Vieng including bicycle hire to explore the surrounding countryside, tubing, kayaking, caving, hiking or relaxing by the Nam Song River with a drink and a good book!!. Your local guide is available to offer suggestions or assist in need.
Depart Vang Vieng around 2pm to begin the return drive to Vientiane. Along the way it?s possible to stop to visit Vang Xang cave - an archaeological site with rock paintings and also visit an ethnic minority market. Arrive back in Vientiane just before sunset, and transfer to your hotel (or the airport).
