Set on a large garden estate, Amantaka is housed in graceful French colonial buildings in the UNESCO protected town of Luang Prabang. It derives its name from the word aman, the Sanskrit word for 'peace', and from Tipitaka, meaning 'the teaching of the Buddha' in Theravada scholastic literature. Situated just south of Phousi Hill, the resort is within strolling distance of the boutiques, bakeries and restaurants lining the town's main street.
The fabled night market, the picturesque banks of the Mekong River and the former Royal Palace are also nearby. Airy and elegant throughout, the d?cor and furnishings reflect the town's French colonial history. The property offers 24 suites ranging in size from 70 to 120 square metres each.
These include eight Suites, four Pool Suites, eight Khan Pool Suites, two Mekong Pool Suites and two Amantaka Pool Suites. Entered from louvered doors from the courtyard, each suite contains a spacious interior and exterior living area.
Authentic Lao and French-influenced cuisine is offered in a number of dining venues.
The Dining Room provides an airy colonial ambience while the Lounge Bar is the perfect spot for relaxing with a pre-dinner aperitif.
The breezy Pool Terrace is a casual dining spot and serves light meals all day, and private dining can be arranged in a choice of secluded locations around the property, as well as in the privacy of guests' suites. Other facilities available to guests include the Aman Spa, the Fitness Facility which overlooks the main swimming pool and houses a gymnasium and yoga studio, a tennis court, library, boutique, and an art gallery.
